As a November child I got used to celebrating my birthday on gloomy, grey and moody days. So as an adult I made it a tradition to escape for a weekend to a quiet spa resort and treat myself to a couple of rain-and-november-weather independent days. The Falkensteiner Balance Resort Stegersbach was my choice repeatedly throughout the last ten years, so I was happy to return in 2018 after the hotel was extensively redone in the year before.
On grey November days it’s best to escape to a Spa sanctuary and wear bathrobes for days!
Premium Adults Only concept
The new concept at the Falkensteiner Balance Resort in Stegersbach focuses on a Premium Adults Only strategy, so the biggest investment went into the enlarged spa and wellness area. While the hotel used to have one large in- and outdoor pool it now features two huge infinity pools! They also added new relaxation and quiet zones and expanded the incredible sauna area.
With the new infinity pools and adults only concept, there’s really no distractions and pure quiet.
Wellness area deluxe
While the hotel already had one of the most renowned spas in Austria before it now also has the perfect wellness area to complete the offer. This used to be our biggest “issue” with the hotel before the renovation in 2017: The small wellness area and the kids in it. Now both of these things have changed and there’s really nothing more to wish for a couple of days of complete relaxation and switching off.
Days spent in bathrobes and slippers are the best days, aren’t they?
Spending a long weekend in a bathrobe and slippers sounds like a dream, right? And that’s 90% of what we wore at the Falkensteiner Balance Resort Stegersbach.
Signature Spa treatments
No visit of the Falkensteiner Balance Resort Stegersbach is complete without a spa treatment. The hotel features one of the most extensive spa menus – and an equal amount of treatment rooms and competent personnel. Everything is focused on the needs of visitors who crave some peaceful and relaxing days while doing something good for their minds and bodies.
The Spa of the Falkensteiner Balance Resort is on a highly professional level.
We tried two of the signature treatments at the Spa, the first being the so called “Body & Face” treatment with Aloe Vera & Algea. This 60 minute treatment starts with a full body peeling with sea salt, black sesame oil and algea. After a shower the treatment continues with a face peeling and then the fresh Aloe Vera is prepared to rejuvenate and boost the skin with natural hydration. A true freshness blast for the skin and body!
The “Body & Face” treatment includes the use of fresh Aloe Vera to boost hydration of the skin.
TSAR massage treatment
It seems every hotel now has a spa as the wellness boom exploded in the tourism industry in the last decade or so. Now the spas which have been around a while – even before the trend – try to come up with their exclusive lines and treatments to stand out professionally in the hype. At Falkensteiner Balance Resort Stegersbach the long-standing tradition of spa offers has been expanded with the newly created “TSAR” treatments.
“The Secret of Active Regeneration” is a program developed to unite the spa treatments with the activity program – using the body’s inherent power to regenerate and support it in this process.
The TSAR treatment combines classic massage techniques with fascia therapy.
The “TSAR” massage combines traditional techniques with fascia massages, stretching and warming of this special tissue within our body. The physician uses fascia spatulas and heated pillows as well as a very special oil made of mother of pearl and edelweiss. A heavenly smell fills the room and the experienced therapist surely finds the spots where your fascias need some attention. This might hurt a little bit at first, but feels oh so relaxing afterwards!
Our room at the Falkensteiner Balance Resort Stegersbach
Last but not least, the rooms at the Falkensteiner Balance Resort Stegersbach have also received a little update. The signature apple design has stayed more or less the same, but the bathrooms are shiny and new! We loved the new modern design with the round mirror and beautiful black marble countertop. We stayed in a 36 square meter “Deluxe Room” with evening sun (although we didn’t see the sun one minute during our whole stay – it’s November after all…) 🙂
Our personal tip:
Order your favourite pillow from the pillow menu – as the standard pillows were way to soft for our liking.

The perfect traveller type
As always with our hotel reviews we try to think of who could be the perfect target group for a hotel. You will be happy here if you’re craving a weekend of relaxation and quiet, paired with professional spa treatments and endless hours doing absolutely nothing in the wellness area.
Yes, there are a couple of possible “experiences” outside of the hotel, but I bet most people don’t really leave the place at all. We did check out the nearby “Rauchwarter” lake, which is nice, but nothing extremely special. There’s also the option to check out the chocolate factory of Zotter or rent a bike, but believe us when we say – you won’t get bored in a bathrobe so soon 🙂
The nearby Rauchwarter lake is nice for a quiet walk
(if you really want to leave the hotel for a bit).
That being said we also learned that you can even bring your dog, but obviously no kids under the age of 14. If you have a family check out the nearby family oriented hotels in Stegersbach. Therefore the hotel is perfect for couples of all ages, who long for a weekend with endless time for relaxation and wellness!
The verdict
Now we remember why are regular guests once again! The hotel is truly a gem and the new “Time without end” claim just fits the mood perfectly. Even the gloomiest of days can feel wonderful here, dozing off in one of the comfy lounge chairs, flicking through a magazine or just blissfully doing nothing at all. Because from boredom often arise the best ideas (but that’s another story)!
