Meet the Puku – a stunning antelope that’s rig Meet the Puku – a stunning antelope that’s right at home in Zambia’s Kafue National Park 🇿🇲 Zambia is home to a stronghold of Puku, and Kafue offers one of the best chances to see them in the wild. Why? Because this park gives them exactly what they love: 🌿 Endless Floodplains – Puku thrive in Kafue’s open, seasonally flooded grasslands, where water and lush grasses are never far away. 👀 Room to Roam – Kafue is one of Africa’s largest national parks, giving Puku the space they need to move in herds and raise their young. 🛡️ Protected for Generations – Over 85% of Zambia’s Puku live in protected areas like Kafue, making the park a vital refuge for their survival. 📸 So if you’re lucky enough to spot Puku grazing peacefully at sunrise, remember — you’re witnessing a uniquely Zambian safari moment. On safari with @pintoafrica and @classiczambia. #KafueNationalPark #ZambiaWildlife #PukuParadise #puku #SafariZambia #zambia #kafue
Musekese Camp, Kafue National Park, Zambia 🇿🇲 Tented rooms are my favorites when on safari. I don’t need any walls or windows. That’s what we have in the city 😉 When I first visited Musekese in 2023 I fell in love immediately. Since then a lot has changed. These are the updates in the 2025 season:
• Electricity in the rooms: The tents are now connected to (solar) power. So you can finally charge your camera batteries and phones in the room.
• Fans in the rooms: Newly installed fans help cool down in the mid day hours.
• Bathroom wall: The bathrooms are now separated from the bedroom with a canvas wall for some more privacy.
• Decor: New pillows, throws and lamps! 😉 The rest remains blissfully the same ✨ The showers overlooking Eden lagoon, the fruit trees attracting elephants into camp, the homemade biscuits, the wonderful team. I keep coming back! If you want to join me in 2026, send me a DM. There’s some last spots available. @classiczambia @pintoafrica @musekeseconservation #classiczambia #musekese #muskeseconservation #kafue #kafuenationalpark #zambia
Kafue National Park, Zambia 🇿🇲 A place whe Kafue National Park, Zambia 🇿🇲 A place where elephants are timid, leopards are plentiful, wild dogs are roaming and lions are thriving. But it wasn’t always like that. Before @classiczambia opened Musekese camp this section of the Kafue was completely unchartered. It took the team years to habituate wildlife to human presence, build roads and carefully develop the area. And then in 2017 a mass snaring incident happened. The loss of over 10 carnivores led to the foundation of @musekeseconservation, their own conservation non-profit organsation. It took years of dedication, anti poaching work, ranger patrols, scientific research and community collaboration to control poaching and stabilize the carnivore populations. But now they’re thriving. Since African Parks assumed management of Kafue National Park Musekese Conservation has moved their operation to adjacent GMAs, where challenges like human encroachment, logging and illegal settlements remain and are even increasing in recent years. These vitally important zones surrounding the park are critical for the ecosystem health of Kafue and need the focused work of conservationists. Staying at Musekese isn’t simply going on safari, but it’s directly supporting the efforts of @musekeseconservation and learning about the connection between ecotourism and wildlife conservation. That’s one of the many reasons I keep coming back here, well that and it’s incredible remote setting and wilderness appeal. #musekese #musekeseconservation #classiczambia #kafue #kafuenationalpark #zambia
Off to the remote Kafue National Park, Zambia 🇿 Off to the remote Kafue National Park, Zambia 🇿🇲 My Zambia expeditions always start in this corner of Zambia. A 1,5 hours bush plane ride from Lusaka to Lufupa airstrip, followed by a short transfer drive to a boat dock. And then a boat ride on the Kafue River and another drive. It takes a bit of time to reach the destination, but the journey is a spectacular one. At Musekese Camp an unparalleled sense of remote wilderness awaits. Located in a river bend of the Kafue River there’s no other camps in this section of the park. With not a single other car in sight during the whole safari you feel secluded in a way that’s hard to come by these days. The Kafue is Zambia‘s oldest and largest park, a vastness teaming with wildlife, yet sightings take a bit more work than in other places. Here the guides teach you reading signs of the bush, tracking and tracing. They will get out of the car frequently to check surroundings, they will sense things that remain hidden from untrained eyes and ears like ours. The guides in Kafue are some of the best I have ever encountered in the industry. Not a lot of guides will want to switch places with them, because they have to work harder for every sighting. And yet we see wild dogs and leopards and lions, elephant and puku, but the true star is the feeling of adventure and seclusion. I keep returning here for this feeling. And I hope I can share it with some of you too. On safari with @pintoafrica and @classiczambia.

Touchdown in Zambia, 2025. 🇿🇲 This was the Touchdown in Zambia, 2025. 🇿🇲 This was the start of this year‘s Zambia expedition with my group. We all gathered at Lusaka airport and after a short confusion where we‘re actually supposed to be going we eventually headed to Pioneer Lodge at the outskirts of Zambia‘s capital city. The first evening is always filled with excitement. Getting to know the group, feeling the energy of new people coming together for the first time. Each filled with a sense of exploration and wonder. And all united by anticipation of what’s ahead of us. 10 days of remote bush life were coming up. The next morning we got picked up early to head straight back to the airport where our private charter bush plane was waiting for us. We jumped aboard and, well, had to get off again. But that’s another story. Stay tuned! PS: 2026 you can join me again, comment with „2026“ if you want to hear more about it ☺️ On safari with @pintoafrica and @classiczambia.

(@nikondach | Advertisement) Not a moment passes without a camera when on safari. From sundowners to bush planes, you’ll always find me taking photos. There’s something about the light, the scenery, the feeling of being part of nature—it creates a constant urge to capture every detail and hold every moment in the eternity of a photograph. I‘m also very grateful for a partner like Nikon, who have been an integral part of my photographic journey. These cameras have become partners for life. It’s a symbiotic relationship by now. I don’t have to think too much when using them, it’s all coming very naturally and instinctively to me at this point. The cameras have informed the way I see light and the way I witness life around me. I’ve never been to much of a technical person, but I’ve come to appreciate some of the technicalities too—like the way the glass is built to capture light or how the processor works to allow for incredibly fast autofocusing. But for the most part I see the beauty these cameras help create—which is less about the numbers or settings, but more about the way colors and light are engraved in pixels on a sensor. It will forever be a somewhat mysterious process for me (same as my brain still finds electricity or wifi magical ✨), but one that leaves me in awe eternally. #NikonCreator

Start your adventure in Maun, then head into the Makgadikgadi for surreal salt pan sleep outs, quad bike rides & up-close meerkat encounters. 🌌

Next up: the legendary Okavango Delta. Split your time between water-based & land-based concessions to truly soak in this UNESCO wonder—think mokoro rides, game drives & pure wilderness magic. 🛶🐘

Wrap it all up in the secluded Linyanti region, where elephants roam in massive herds and predators rule the dry season. It’s raw, wild, and far from the crowds. 🐾🔥

🗓 My 12-night itinerary:
📍1N Maun
📍2N Makgadikgadi
📍6N Okavango Delta
📍3N Linyanti

✨ May is the secret season—post-rain, pre-tourist rush. Lower rates, clear skies, and wild beauty at its best.

💡 Pro tip: If you can, invest in private concessions—they unlock the full magic of the Delta & beyond. #BotswanaTravel #OkavangoDelta #MakgadikgadiSaltPans #Linyanti #AfricaSafari #SafariDreams #BotswanaSafari
