(Advertisement) The first time I visited this owner-run lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River was back in 2019 as per recommendation of my long-term safari partners @pintoafrica 🙌🏼✨ Now—six years later—I’m back, camera in hand, to shoot this incredible property again. Tucked just 20km upstream from Livingstone and the stunning Victoria Falls, Chundukwa is a peaceful sanctuary where the river flows in front of the stilted chalets, hippos float by gently, and the soul feels still. Each riverside chalet is open-fronted, allowing to wake up with crocodiles drifting below and birdsong above. Coming back felt like flipping through old memories and seeing them come alive in new light. Same warm faces, same golden sunsets, and equally magical this time around. So grateful to be back where my lens first found its love for Zambia 🇿🇲✨ #ChundukwaRiverLodge #ZambeziDreaming #TravelPhotographer #VictoriaFalls #ZambiaTravel #WildZambezi #livingstone #zambia #chundukwa
Final frames from Tanzania with @unikat.afrika and Final frames from Tanzania with @unikat.afrika and @couchsafaripodcast 🇹🇿
(Advertisement) For my first trip to Tanzania I couldn’t have asked for a better experience—thanks to the recommendations and organization of @unikat.afrika, who are outstanding Tanzania specialists based in Germany: 🌿 Season: The low season in April allowed for incredibly quiet safari moments even in the famous Serengeti. Consider going off season for a more private experience! 🏹 Cultural immersion: They organised a very authentic cultural visit with the Hadzabe tribe, the last hunter gatherers in Tanzania. A very special opportunity! ⛺️ Camps: From a 100% woman-led camp to a luxury tented mobile camp and a lodge in a private concession—we stayed at somewhat of the creme de la creme of camps in Tanzania. They truly know where to stay! If you’re ever planning a Tanzania trip I can highly recommend the services of @unikat.afrika ♥️✨ Even when things go wrong—like with our 8 hour delayed international flight, they quickly react and reorganize the trip—all via WhatsApp. 🏆 If you book a similar Tanzania trip like we did with the code „COUCHSAFARI“ you’ll even get a free hot air balloon ride (worth 560 euros) as a bonus! Thank you very much for having us Anke & Marius and thanks to Paddy for inviting my along 🙌🏼✨ #tanzania #unikatafrika
Our final stop of this Tanzania journey was someth Our final stop of this Tanzania journey was something truly special: @andbeyondkleinscamp 🇹🇿
(On safari with @unikat.afrika and @couchsafaripodcast | Advertisement). Klein’s Camp lies tucked away in a private concession at the Northeastern edge of the Serengeti, with direct access to the Northern Serengeti ecosystem as well as the private concession that is full of leopards and elephants. 🐘🌿 Perched high on the Kuka Hills, the camp—and especially the iconic bar—offers a breathtaking lookout over endless plains. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and the silence speaks volumes. This is one of the most traditional camps in the Serengeti ecosystem, and it feels like it—warm, rooted, and quietly legendary. Some of the team members have been here for up to 20 years, so it genuinely feels like being welcomed into a family. But it’s not just the location and heritage that is so special here. It’s expert guiding, off-road drives in the private concession and unforgettable night safaris with leopards. It’s evenings spent with the Maasai from nearby Ololosokwan village, meaning „Land of the buffalo“. And it’s cozy nights spent in our thatched cottage-style huts— it was the perfect ending to an unforgettable safari. ✨ #SerengetiMagic #andbeyond #andbeyondkleinscamp #serengeti #tanzaniasafari

From lion cubs to leopard hunts and serval encount From lion cubs to leopard hunts and serval encounters—scenes from an unbelievable day on safari in Tanzania 🇹🇿 (with @unikat.afrika and @couchsafaripodcast | advertisement) 🎙️We recorded a full podcast episode on @couchsafaripodcast just about this extraordinary day in the Serengeti. 🎧 You can listen to it now on Spotify (it’s in German though). In the episode we reflect upon these outstanding sightings and how we lost count of the lions we saw eventually (there’s an ongoing debate if it was 36 or 39 lions in total 😅). In any case seeing a leopard hunt a hare and a serval a lizard right next to the car in and by itself would have made for memorable encounters. But topping this off with some really cute lion cub action and too many lions on top of granite boulders wasn’t too bad either. That’s what the Serengeti is famous for after all! ✨ And all of that happened in April, the middle of the rainy season in Tanzania. I guess you notice the blue sky… 😉 it wasn’t all rain! If you’re interested in a Tanzania safari please contact @unikat.afrika with the keyword „couchsafari“. If you book a similar safari like we did with them you’ll get a free hot air balloon ride (or a 560 euro discount)! 😍
Next level mobile camp in Tanzania: @andbeyondsere Next level mobile camp in Tanzania:
@andbeyondserengetiundercanvas 🇹🇿
(On safari with @unikat.afrika and @couchsafaripodcast | Advertisement). While we were in the Serengeti we saw how a mobile camp was moved—this was truly impressive. Relocating a whole camp is an incredible undertaking (especially on muddy roads in April). Hence our expectations of the only mobile camp of our tour was very basic:
✔️ Tented rooms
✔️ Bucket showers
❌ but maybe limited fixtures...? And then we arrived at @andbeyondserengetiundercanvas and it was a bit different. How opulent can a camp be!? 😍 yes it’s tented and there’s bucket showers, but the furnishings were really lavish. My personal surprise moment was being able to use a hairdryer in the tent! 😅 Often that’s not even possible in full-blown lodges, let alone in a tented camp… But the highlight with @andbeyondtravel is always the excellent guiding. Our guide Elias (@elias_pirianoy) needs to be thanked personally, he‘s responsible for the unbelievable day we saw 39 lions, but he also handled complicated moments like when our leopard sighting got spoiled by guests in another vehicle who turned on music. He managed all this very well and also made sure we had an incredible time and ample time for photography! If you are planning a Tanzania trip I can highly recommend staying with @andbeyondtravel and booking your trip with @unikat.afrika who know exactly which locations are ideal for which season.
Subject or light? What’s more important? (@nikon Subject or light? What’s more important?
(@nikondach | Advertisement). On my recent trip to Tanzania this was a constant discussion with my travel buddy Paddy from @couchsafaripodcast: What should be the focus when photographing wildlife on a safari? Is it chasing the most sought-after subjects like lions and leopards? Or is it rather working with the light, no matter if the subject is a dik-dik, a klipspringer, a might male lion, a vervet monkey or an Egyptian goose? In an ideal photographer’s dream world both line up:
An incredible subject in magical light (preferable in a perfect location, just to add another layer of complexity here). 😅 But in a realistic world that doesn’t always happen, so I tend to keep my eyes and mind open for whatever unfolds in front of us ✨ And then it’s very possible that I’ll ask the guide to stop for an Egyptian goose sitting on a perfect log in some interesting light. Or that I‘ll stay with vervet monkeys for a while to watch something unfold. One day we were pressed for time to see a leopard that we were suspecting in a tree during sunset, and had to leave a large breeding herd of elephants behind to catch up with that promise. And it didn’t happen. So to me the art of wildlife photography is about patience and dedication for the most part. When things don’t line up this can be testing, but then there’s always an unexpected reward. A photo you didn’t anticipate. A moment you didn’t even dream of. And that’s the magic of photography.
Opening our eyes to the miracle that our world is.

Sea restoration with @wwfspain (Advertisement) 🌊🪸 I just returned from an incredible week with a team of scientists, conservationists and fishers at the Catalonian coast 🇪🇸 All of them are working for one goal: to restore marine habitats in the Mediterranean Sea 🐠🪸🦀🐙🦑🦈🪼🐚 The project is called „LIFE Ecorest“ and is currently restoring nearly 30,000 hectares of deep marine habitats in Catalonia with the active participation of the fishing sector. The process is quite time consuming and I got to witness it from the start to finish: • First the fishers are detangling the corals, sponges and gorgonias that are caught in their nets as bycatch. • Then they put them in containers with water and store them safely until they go back to the harbor (the organisms only survive for a few minutes outside of water). • At the harbor there’s special aquariums for the corals and gorgonias. The fishers document what organisms they are bringing in, make photos for the scientists and then carefully place the organisms in the aquariums. • Every 1-2 weeks the scientists from @icm.csic come to the participating harbors to prepare each piece of coral or gorgonia for the release. • They carefully place each piece on stones with epoxy or glue and sand. This is necessary so the organisms stand up vertically when released back into the sea. Otherwise they would lay on the ground, get covered by sand and eventually die. • Each piece is then documented again, to make sure there’s a count of how many organisms are being released. • In a final step the fishers go out with the organisms and release them in dedicated non-take zones, where no fishing is allowed. • Once per year the scientists then deploy deep sea robots with cameras to document the restoration process. 🪸Over 5,500 organisms have been released so far and are thriving and growing on the sea floor. ♥️ It’s an incredible collaborative effort with one common objective: to restore the sea for generations to come! A project by @icm.csic with the support of @fundacionbiodiversidad, @unibarcelona, the
@confrariesdegirona and funding from the EU @lifeprogramme.
