In case you’re longing for quiet winter days, th In case you’re longing for quiet winter days, this might be the right place for you: 📍Rodenecker-Lüsner Alm, South Tyrol. (@suedtirol.official and @gitschberg.jochtal Advertisement) We first visited this stunning alpine plateau in summer 7 years ago, when its rolling meadows were lush and green and covered in flowers—but now—in a thick layer of snow, it was just as magical, if not more! ❄️✨ Starting at about 1,700m above sea level, this peaceful high-altitude paradise feels like a different world from the valley. The drive up through the forest already promised what was laying ahead. While there was no snow at lower altitudes we slowly emerged in the winter wonderland we had hoped for—turn by turn as we climbed the mountain road ❄️ This time, we stayed at Oberhauserhütte (@oberhauserhuette), a rustic hut with a super modern triangular-shaped annex, located at the Western tip of the Alm. You can drive up all the way to the hut—albeit we’d recommend a 4x4, just to be on the safe side 🙌🏼 In fact the lovely team of Oberhauserhütte helped us dig out our car upon check-out, as it had snowed more than 30cm the last night of our stay. Even with the 4-wheel drive they had to scatter some gravel under our wheels so we could get out of the parking lot 😅 The alp itself stretches over 20 km, offering a remote escape for those craving tranquility in the mountains. The nights up here were only filled with the sound of snow sliding down the tilted facade of the hut. So quiet and serene ✨ During the day you’ll be spoilt with some breathtaking panoramic views and endless opportunities for slow winter hikes, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Winter adventures in Vorarlberg didn’t disappoin Winter adventures in Vorarlberg didn’t disappoint (despite some small hiccups) 😉❄️🇦🇹 We braved the snowy trails in Damüls (aka the snowiest village in the world 🌨️) and somehow managed not to strangle each other (one party wanted to continue, another wanted to return to the cabin—you can take wild guesses who‘s who). 😅 Then we took a gondola ride up to Sonntag-Stein under the full moon 🌕—which didn’t rise above the clouds for hours until we eventually gave up and returned to thaw our frozen bodies in our sauna. Obviously the moon then made an appearance while we were butt naked, but cameras and saunas don’t align well 😅 Anyhow, the trip was a success and we had plenty of time to enjoy nature, move our tired winter bodies and rest accordingly back in the cabin ☺️ Hope you had a good start in the year too! 😘 #Vorarlberg #Damüls #SonntagStein @sonntagstein @grosses_walsertal @damuelsfaschina @visitbregenzerwald @visitvorarlberg @cabinski.at

In winter at least that’s a wonderful way to start the day. In summer we would suggest to close the blinds to not be woken at 4am 😅 08:00 After a short sunrise morning yoga session (there’s a yoga mat provided at the cabin) one of us quickly threw a jacket over their Pyjamas and walked the few steps over to Litzhof Lädle to buy some fresh eggs (or their incredible blueberry jam 🫐😍). 09:00 Time for breakfast with a view. 10:30 After breakfast we filled the dishwasher and left for a winter walk or similar activity. One day we drove over to Bregenzerwald for some shopping at Susanne Kaufmann’s store in Bezau and to enjoy a typical culinary Käsespätzle treat at Hirschen Schwarzenberg. Also once we skipped the morning yoga and headed straight for the skiing slopes in Damüls instead (which were fantastic!) ⛷️❄️✨ 15:00 Coming back to the cabin the heated sauna awaited us. We always programmed the sauna to start heating before we came back home, so it would be steaming hot and ready directly upon our arrival 🧖🏼‍♀️ 16:30 The sun slowly sets in the Walsertal. Time to make a tea and relax, read, watch a ski jumping competition (😉) or simply enjoy the comforts of the cabin. 17:00 Light some candles and get cozy. 18:30 Dinner preparations are under way at the latest now… we cooked braised cabbage and Balsamico glazed mushrooms once, another day we bought freshly made Tiroler Schlutzkrapfen and just browned some butter to top them. The last evening we had rosemary potatoes and Hungarian Lecsó. 19:30 Bonus: Watch the full moon rise and light up the valley. We were lucky enough to be there during full moon (thankfully the skylight above the bed also features blinds, so that we could sleep those nights too ☺️). 22:00 Off to bed under the gabled wooden roof.
